Tutoring Maths – Why I love it!

One of my favourite things about being a teacher is breaking down misconceptions and simplifying new ideas into clear and understandable steps. It's incredibly rewarding to witness the moment when a student finally grasps a difficult concept or achieves their desired grade. I take great pride in being able to make a positive impact on my students' lives, helping them gain confidence, develop critical thinking skills, and reach their full potential. I also enjoy the flexibility and creativity that comes with being a tutor, as it allows me to tailor lessons to the unique needs and interests of each student.
About me
My Journey into teaching​
My Year 2 school report described me as ‘A budding young Mathematician who had a flair and enjoyment for Mathematics’, so along with my natural instinct to help others, I guess it was inevitable that I would find my way into teaching Maths all those years later. However, despite that early promise my path wasn't always easy and there were times when maths was genuinely challenging for me. It was with the help of a great tutor who encouraged me to work hard and look at things in a different way, that I continued to love the subject. I still draw on this experience today when teaching and use it to break down difficult topics and problems to help others succeed. It has given me an appreciation of where and why mathematical misconceptions happen, enabling me to help students overcome them.

Over 19 Years of Experience​
I have now been teaching and leading Maths for 19+ years across a broad range of schools and have thoroughly enjoyed supporting and inspiring so many students to realise their potential. I have taught in both English and international settings, including state, grammar and independent schools, teaching KS3, GCSE, IGCSE and A-Level throughout the years. Now that I have two children of my own, I have decided to start a new chapter in my career which gives me more flexibility to do what I love, as well as be there for them during these precious years.

I am a friendly and positive person dedicated to helping young people grasp Maths in a way that’s approachable and inspiring, so they can fulfil their potential. I endeavour to build a rapport with both the child and parent and believe in honesty and clear communication.

I specialise in preparing pupils for GCSE & IGCSE Mathematics exams, but also cover KS3. I deliver 1:1 and small group lessons both online and in person. I tutor online using Zoom and provide regular feedback of your child’s progress. In addition to the tutoring sessions, I offer pupils exam preparation support as your child nears closer to sitting their GCSEs.

That's why I offer a no obligation trial lesson to make sure I'm a good fit for them before you commit. If you choose to proceed the cost of the lesson will be added to your first invoice.
